tablecloths? Where can I find a white vinyl tablecloth (52x70) with a flannel back. I've searched the internet and can't seem to find one anywhere. Thanks.t northville replied: "I don't know where you live, but in Michigan you can get one at Meijers. You may also be able to go to JoAnn fabrics and buy as much as you need from a roll."
Suggaaaah replied: "I suggest you browse linentablecloth.comThey have good quality table cloths. Various colors . I really liked their table cloths" Should I use paper or plastic tablecloths for the wedding reception? I live in the Atlanta area. We have a small budget for our wedding reception. To rent a tablecloth for banquet size tables is $10 a piece. We have 15 tables. I am not about to spend $150 dollars for tablecloths alone. We are only using clear plastic plates.
What is the best alternative to using linen tablecloths? ♥ replied: "Between the two I'd say plastic will be more durable. The paper ones will be completely ruined as soon as someone spills a little something on them."
lisaclara replied: "If you really want to save money and make it look great then go to the local craft store and pick up a few rolls of plastic tablecloth sheeting. There are a bazillion ways to wrap it and design with it but the trick is that you have to know how. You need to know how to use 2 different colors or just white and then you put a layer of table cloth and then if you know how to use a staple gun you can create draping accents and flowers along the edges. It's not at all tacky if you know how but if you don't know how - it can be really pathetic looking so find someone who is really crafty and get some help with this if you don't know how to make it look nice."
D replied: "Plastic tablecloths might be noisy, paper might be noisy too it things start to rip.
How big are your tables? You might be able to get fabric from a fabric store and cut them the size of your tables. Shouldn't cost more than rental fees. The just wrap the tables in fabric. You could just pin or tape th ends to the bottom of the table so they don't hang."
Sandy K replied: "You can buy some nice plastic tablecloths, I think they would better than paper, you can buy them at Walmart for $5.and under."
Thriftmaster replied: "we had to alternate between plastic and linen and the plastic looked awesome. just don't use white-they tend to be see thru and ruin the look."
NJ Devils Girl :) replied: "I think Plastic would be better as if there is a spill it can be easily cleaned up with a sponge or rag. You can get some nice plastic table clothes at the dollar store."
jenn replied: "Plastic. Paper gets ruined when it gets wet and is just a pain.
Just a thought - you might want to confirm with your venue that it's okay to provide your own tableclothes and check if they have any restrictions."
artsy1 replied: "This is just a suggestion. I've often seen fabric for $1.00 a yd. at JoAnn's and Walmart. Sometimes it's clearance, sometimes it's just extra stock. Three yards would cover a long banquet table, for $3.00. Maybe even less with a coupon. You might find something you like."
It's Me!! replied: "I would definitely choose plastic over paper! If something spills on the paper tablecloth it will start to rip and shred and just look icky. You can a roll of plastic tablecloths that you cut to fit at factory card outlet or party city (both have websites)."
HulaForever replied: "Got to walmart and buy 50 yards of fabric for 50 dollars.
Have someone sew them!" What do I need to know about tablecloths? I am buying my first tablecloth for my dining room table. I will only be using it when I have people over for dinner. I also want to get matching cloth napkins. How do I measure for a tablecloth? Do I just measure the perimeter of the table? How do I know if I am getting a quality tablecloth? Is there a thread count like sheets? Where can I find a nice one for not too much money? And do I still use placemats with tablecloths? I assume no, but how do I clean them if there is a spill? What is the best way to get out stains. My dining table is cherrywood and I think a lighter tablecloth would look best. Plus, I can use it all year round. Any ideas? constantreader replied: "First, get a table-pad! With a cherrywood table, you don't want rings from hot dishes or spills to mar the surface--so get a table-pad to go under the cloth. Pads are sized to cover just the table-top. Measure your table - length & width - and you'll find that tablecloths and pads come in sizes based on the size of your table. The cloth should allow for some drape all the way around--usually 6 to 8 inches. Most packaged items come with labels that will tell you what dimension table they will fit and how much drape there will be. Most shops have matching napkins for tablecloths. You get to pick the fabric type, and can have a formal or informal style, solid colour, white or ecru, patterns or prints, your pick entirely based on your diningroom style and colours. Many people use place-mats on top of tablecloths--again, it's the "look" you're looking for. Read labels as to cleaning instructions..some fabrics are "stain release", some require more care. If you're using it only for dinner guest occasions, you might consider getting a purely decorative table-top runner to leave on between parties, i.e., everyday item...colour should go with whatever your decor suggests." What is the best way to clean satin tablecloths? I just some satin tablecloths for my wedding from a friend and they are a little dirty and one has what looks like a small candle wax stain on one. How do I get that out and what is the safest way to clean them? kwabam replied: "Let a drycleaner figure it out for you, haha."
Greg replied: "believe it or not, toothpaste, use white toothpaste"
punkrawkjoshy replied: "You have the devil's tablecloths?"
eliz09 replied: "billy may's oxyclean."
momof3 replied: "You can take them to the dry cleaner or you can try to get the candle wax out with a scrub brush or tooth brush dipped in very hot water and use dish liquid. Wash on delicates in the washer with woolite detergent and dry on medium heat then lay them flat and iron them. My bed sheets are satin and this"
Lou C replied: "most satin is washable. test one to see. You will probably have to iron them. Candle wax removal. Google it for sure: I think use wax paper
( on the wrong side) over wax area and iron with absorbant cloth underneath to catch the melted wax.."
yvonne m replied: "get a tub of warm water and some dish detergent and let soak for a bit then just swish around a little bit then rinse in warm water and hang dry . don't ring it out thought!" Where can you find white tablecloths that are cloth? I am looking for cloth tablecloths for my wedding. I need 25 for the 60" round tables and 6 for 8' rectangle tables. Any clues as to where I could get some that won't cost an arm and a leg? Thank you in advance. kwflamingo replied: "You should be able to rent them from a party supply store."
Steven D replied: "You should be able to rent them from a linen supply company. Most banquet halls / caterers supply their own table coverings."
Sandy Mac replied: "You can wither hire them (the venue you are holding it in may rent them), or a party hire company, .... or if you have a 'handy' friend buy white cotton flat bed sheets and seam them around to suit. You could even add a trim to match your wedding theme. Good luck :-)" Where can I buy tablecloths at wholesale prices in new york? I have to buy about 26-30 tablecloths for an event I'm giving and I dont know where to go to buy them. I'm working with a very tight budget but I want nice tablecloths, not plastic, and I want a selection of colors to choose from. I would rather go to the place & see what I'm buying but if i have to order them online I will.
Can anyone give suggestions please? My event is in 4 weeks. Thanks alot :) krissyderic replied: "Have you tried Big Lots, Family Dollar or Dollar General.
They have quite an assortment and very reasonable prices." Where to find cheap white round tablecloths? I am trying to plan my wedding reception and the church where I am having it has 60" round tables. I am trying to find round tablecloths (either paper or plastic) that aren't very expensive. Does anyone know where the best place to go is? (if you know of somewhere online, please post the link) Thanks!
called dollar tree but they said they didn't have any round ones.
Wasn't aware you could rent plastic tablecloths. Who would rent that? kc replied: "dollar tree"
Stacy replied: "Have you checked with a local party rental supply company?"
cheezy replied: "call around to your local hotels that have banquet rooms to see if you can rent some tablecloths from them"
marriedin2007 replied: "look at places that do prom stuff...i think a place called stumps...stumpsprom.com is their website... the decorator at my wedding used stuff from there... he also used place where you rent the linens but i do not know the name of it...also at my local walmart they have the table cloths for those little round bedside tables... i bought some for our kitchen table because i could not find any round kitchen table cloths...that may work... it was about 9 dollars apiece...good luck!"
channyt replied: "http://www.mypapershop.com/round-plastic-tablecloths.html
one of the websites says you would use an 84" to cover a 60" table. you might double check on that before buying.
the first link sells by the case i think.
the second link they cost 2.49 per tablecloth.
ebay has some too if you have paypal account.
or try a party supply store near you~they may have them or be able to order them for you ( party america is the store here, just check the yellow pages in your area for your local party supply store )" is it necessary to wash and press new tablecloths before an event? having thanksgiving at our farm, got some fall colored tablecloths at target. hubby says wash and press, i say already pressed! what's your opinion? Laura H replied: "Sometimes cloth items such as tablecloths that come in plastic packages tend to retain a bit of a weird smell. Washing them eliminates that smell and replaces it with a fresh smell that's way more inviting to guests then a plastic smell."
small fish replied: "probably been folded and have creases in them, should at least be crease free.might as well wash and press."
SpinSpinSugar replied: "New fabrics, tablecloths, etc. have been treated or may have residual chemicals and dyes which can transfer to your clothes and other things, also they have that "new", (plasticy) smell. I love using linen water, available at any bed & bath or department/specialty store. My favs are lavender, lilac, (think south of france) fresh linen, rose or ocean/rain scents. They even have holiday scents.
Your guests will love you, (and be impressed)!"
patricia w replied: "I would cause they will be crisp and fresh."
debby d replied: "Wash and Press"
desiderio replied: "Yes, they're pressed, and the theory is they're clean, too. However, I prefer to have mine free of whatever residuals are on them and free of wrinkles, even creases, especially if I have people coming over. They'll drape nicer as well. Same goes with curtains. Even if I don't wash the curtains, they always hang nicer without the packaging creases." Is it tacky to use plastic tablecloths for a wedding reception? I have people who are willing to make my tablecloths if I can find the fabric, but I am having a horrible time finding places that have enough fabric to do this as well as finding a fabric I just fall in love with. Is it tacky to just have plastic tablecloths and maybe a nice table runner? mochabiznswmn replied: "it is your wedding your day and if it fits with your scheme then make it work...people get creative daily and what works for one may not work for another..it is your day why does people opinions matter"
Anna replied: "I dont think it is...Im also getting married in august and Im going with plastic...saves some money too!!!"
golfgirl3 replied: "It depends are you doing an outdoor bbq? Plastic is a little tacky for a wedding. Have you tried Hancocks? They usually have great priced fabrics on large bolts. Next suggestion, get white fabric which you can get in large quantities, and do table squares with your colors."
Kristy replied: "Go with fabric. There are tons of fabric stores out there, you could easily order something you love. I use J&O because it's local but they also do web-orders:
Good luck!"
NinaPina replied: "If it is a very casual wedding then, yes, plastic is fine. However, if you are trying to be stylish, then you should try to find the cloth and have your friends make it. If you are unable to find enough fabric for all then mix and match. Congrats on your wedding!"
Lovin29 replied: "I don't care for the word "tacky" because these days it implies that it is wrong.
It isn't wrong to have plastic BUT you will not like it- promise.
IF you can live with it- go with it! But if not- keep searching and it will pay off in the end.
try...
someone out there might have something you can buy for a fraction of the price, you never know!"
katie-bug replied: "plastic is really cheap looking. If you have a table runner with plastic, it will look really weird. If you have people to make tablecloths, you should really take them up on it. If all else fails, go with plain cotton and do a fancy runner and centerpiece or something. If you can find a fabric in the store, you can always order more of it online! hancock fabrics, joanne fabrics and j and o fabrics all have pretty good selections. You really should price the fabrics though because it may be cheaper to just rent linen from a linen rental company or buy some off ebay or something like that. I would do bare tables before using plastic!"
SexyMama replied: "Not tacky, but if you want table cloths, make sure they're cheep b/c they'll ge ruined or stained anyways."
Suba replied: "Possibly you could rent tablecloths from a bridal rental shop?"
Avis B replied: "If you are wearing a bridal gown and the Groom is wearing "formal wedding attire" then PLASTIC anything is inappropriate.
If your reception is taking place at a park or the beach then it is OK to use PLASTIC (and that's about the only places that it is acceptable).
A fabric tablerunner that covers a plastic tablecloth is OK and acceptable but let's face it, it's still a plastic tablecloth.
Why don't you try to find a white paper tablecloth at a rental or party goods store? That will look better than plastic.

Elle C replied: "I definitely would not do the plastic. It will end up looking cheap and not formal. Go with it if this is the look you are going for.
Why would you spend money on fabric and to have all those tablecloths made??? What will you do with all of them after the wedding? The simple answer here is to rent linens...it will save you tons of money and time. Good luck to you."
ebbe replied: "I like economical. Whatever you do, don't go into debt for your wedding. Don't let your parents go into debt, either. Congrats!"
pola96 replied: "Yes many people would think that very tacky indeed, your can rent table linens and chair covers cheaply, or better still buy them at somewhere like TableclothsForLess.com and then sell them after your wedding.
Good luck"
TotalRecipeHound replied: "Consider getting the plastic tablecloths and getting really nice fabric to make lovely runners atop the tablecloths. Alternatively, just go to the store and buy 90 or 180 inch plain muslin to sew the plain tablecloths. Falling in love with your tablecloths is just a tad over the top, don't you think?
I agree with other posters. Hancock's is exactly where I was thinking for you to get the muslin." What is cheaper for tablecloths and linens? I'm on a somewhat tight budget for my wedding, so I was wondering if it is cheaper to buy the tablecloths, linen, chair covers..etc wholesale.. or to rent it.. and if there's anyone who has any idea what the prices range between for renting them around the coachella valley.
i also want to add that some prices that i'm looking at to buy all the cloths and linens wholesale, the cheapest is around $700 for everything i need to decorate the tables and chairs. arliesesker replied: "I used white flat bed sheets for my table cloths. They were $10 bucks a sheet, and I cut off the 'fold' at the top of the sheet and re-stitched it to give it a uniform appearance. No ever knew...Until now."
nicolecd_zta replied: "I am not sure which is cheaper, but I have a tip if you decide to rent. I rented linen napkins, table cloths, and chair covers/sashes from a place I found online. After a couple months of searching, I found out that some online stores are willing to negotiate prices. If you see something you like online, but find something cheaper somewhere else, just call them and ask if they will meet the price. It worked for me. I considered renting, but decided that renting was easier for me. The company set up shipping and pick-up before and after."
Pookie replied: "Actually if you can find them cheap enough, buying is a better way to go because you can turn around and resell them. Just really check prices...all the price...item, tax and shipping fees before buying vs. renting. Good luck."
shihtzulover123 replied: "Sounds like you are maybe DIYing.( If not, isn't your venue/caterer responsible for providing these?) If so try webrestaurant.com and consider using the looks like linen ones. They are paper mixed with fabric, they look and feel and perform like linen but are disposable, and inexpensive. Otherwise rent them, this is much cheaper and think about it; do you think you will have a need for 20 tablecloths in the future? Also no laundry to do afterward.I don't know if they make chair covers in this stuff or not but I guess you could use them for that too if you must have chair covers."
Stiffler replied: "Do you have a sewing machine?
We bought some thick cotton in a roll (14 meters of it) for $35 to make 105 napkins.
Depending on what shape and how big your tables are you could do the same thing for tablecloths. Way cheaper than buying them wholesale." |
